This will be an on-hands workshop, detailing several methods of escaping from commonly used restraints. The workshop will mostly focus on bypassing flaws or features and exploiting weaknesses in the used restraint or material.

== 14:00 - 15:00 - NetBSD Security Advisory 2013-008: tcpdrop networking security vulnerability explained ==

In August 2013, I held a talk at OHM2013 presenting and publicly
disclosing a security vulnerability bug within the NetBSD operating
system's kernel authorization framework ("kauth").

The bug was trivially easy to exploit, had been in NetBSD for over
3.5 years, and allowed local attackers to hijack a host's networking
facilities. It got fixed by NetBSD at the start of the talk, committing
a patch I provided as part of my earlier disclosure to NetBSD.

Exploit scenarios included completely owning a host by denying all remote
service to all users (including root), locking out specific users of
the host, and exercising more fine-grained filtering power, resembling
a host based firewall. The talk included a video demonstrating some
of these exploitations, as well as inner details about the bug and the
kauth framework in general.

A famous blog covered the talk. Also, in the months following the talk,
quite some people within the German hacker scene expressed their personal
interest in the talk to me. Unfortunately, the recording of the talk
turned out not to have succeeded.

The above, combined with the bug being as peculiar as it is, led to the
idea of redoing the talk at another conference, preferably (but not
necessarily) in Germany. A talk proposal or two got rejected though,
and with that, redoing the talk more or less became a long term personal
wish as well -- after a year and a half now getting fulfilled at eth0.

This talk will be in English.

A video recording will be made by eth0. The speaker kindly requests the
audience not to make any additional recordings or pictures of the talk
without asking consent beforehand.

Eth0 is a high-tech geek conference. It aims toward sharing knowledge on technology/IT related fields including security, networks, programming, privacy, new (open) technologies, ethics and hacking. At daylight there are [[Eth0:2015_winter_talks|talks]] on these subjects, but when the sun goes down its definitely time to pick up the slack. There will be enough to do, as we have a bonfire, a fully equipped [[lounge]] (with bar) and an overload of hackerspace activity. Maybe someone brings along lasers and there is room to party. Enough reason to pick up the slack and go to eth0:2015 Winter?

So, basically, we'l be gathering again at the '''awesome''' location we visited the last few years. There will be talks, workshops, '''awesome''' maker machines and the best of all we will meet all our friends and fellow hackers.

The event started on Friday 6pm, and ran until the Sunday around 6pm. There was be plenty of hacking and talking time. Obviously as we would love to get all your projects, we have plenty of space available for you to display your projects, on and off-stage.

There's plenty of hot showers and clean toilets (male / female) around the building.

Building software to design and cnc-mill houses out of plywood.

This talk centers around the posibilities of creating open source software as
a team, which by now is a tried and tested technique, and combining that school
of thought with the upcoming tools to macnufacture real-world objects using that
code. Both of these have been known to work together pretty good, but most are
not reaching for the same size of "real world" applications we are dreaming of.

We would like to present our project, and ideas around bulding full-size
buildings using (self build) 3 axis cnc cutters, Sheets of plywood, and code to
automatically generate all the requiered building blocks.

On how to build or adept tools for web-publishing so they take privacy into consideration by design.

This talk is about the conflict that can arise between getting your
message out there, and trying to maintain your audience's right to
privacy. In the last couple of years, with the dramatic increase in the
use of social media, often one of the most effective ways of spreading
your message to a large group of people has become to foster a community
using existing social networks, like Facebook or Twitter.

The problem with using these services is that, while convenient, they
also snoop on your audience’s private data. These companies make their
money by creating and selling detailed profiles to marketers, so that
they can effectively target their ads. Often these services run their
own ad service as well, as is the case with Facebook and Google. Later
on, this data can come back to hunt you. Let’s say you’ve been searching
on Google for some serious illness or disease. You can imagine what your
health insurance company would do, had it access to this information. Up
the premiums or deny you insurance altogether.

Sander Venema was asked by Annie Machon to redesign her website in early
2012. We took special care in avoiding common traps that can compromise
the security and privacy of the site’s visitors when designing the new
site.

In his talk, Sander will talk about the special considerations that
come with building websites for whistleblowers with high security &
privacy needs, both for the owner/operator, and the visitors of the
site; discuss what the problem points are, and how we worked around
them to create a website that is both pretty, usable and as safe as
possible. He will also talk about domain security and governments
claiming jurisdiction over a domain name, even if the actual server is
not located in their country and the site isn’t aimed specifically at
their citizens. There have been several cases in the past where
websites have been brought offline because of this.

== Steffan Karger // OpenVPN-NL ==
Open source VPN for the Dutch government (and others).

OpenVPN-NL is an OpenVPN variant aimed at use by the Dutch government,
and has been ceritfied for networks with a classification up to the level
'Departmentaal Vertrouwelijk' (something like 'For Official Use Only').

This talk will be about what we did to get it approved, how we contribute
to the community and some of the vulnerabilities we found along the way.

James is going to show us how to use a [http://frack.nl/wiki/Glasvezel_lassen Fiber Splicer], tell us about the various fibers we use in IT, and will allow participants to make their own splices with the splicer.

A program for kids where all workshops will be accessible for people from the age of 5 (younger people might need some extra support).
The main language will be Dutch, however, our presenters will be multi-lingual and English won't be a problem.
