After some years of inactivity a new Orga has taken up the ball to revitalise eth0! eth0 is a Do-It-Yourself high-tech geek conference in the Netherlands, aiming toward sharing knowledge and enthusiasm on technology and IT related fields including hardware, electronics, 3D printers, networks, programming, (open) technologies, accessibility, privacy, ethics, security, hardware hacking and much more. By day participants hack away at projects, when the sun goes down it's time for beer, club-mate (or your favourite alternative Mate!), games (Hacker Jeopardy!) - party or chill out! There's always a ton of techy activities, a loaded-out bar and an abundance of hackerspace activity. Maybe someone brings along lasers to complete the party!

Eth0 is an unique event as the ticket prize includes breakfast and dinner for two days and a place to sleep. The full weekend tickets for Eth0:2025 are '''SOLD OUT''', but the Saturday tickets are '''STILL AVAILABLE''' in a limited quantity so don't wait with ordering one!

= Rules =
To make eth0 run as smoothly and fun as previous years, we have written down some rules.

*The most important rule: Please respect everyone's right to personal space and privacy. Don't take pictures of each other unless you have asked for everyone's permission.

*Despite this being a Hacker-event, please refrain from performing illegal practices that could get us, your fellow hackers, or the venue in trouble. Hacking is not Cracking!

*We run this event together. That means that we expect you to clean up your own mess - and we expect some! - and we would also love your help building up and tearing down. Let's leave the venue in at least as good as a state as we got it!

*Feeling sick? Please act in a responsible way and think of your fellow hackers. We have face masks and covid tests available; please use them as you see fit.

*If you feel uncomfortable, bothered by people or otherwise concerned, please do not hesitate to contact any Orga member.

=== Public health policy (PHP) ===
We strive to be accommodating to everyone. We will have CO2 monitoring in the different areas, ventilation will be applied as much as possible. In terms of COVID, there will be tests available on site but testing is not mandatory. We ask all visitors to perform a voluntary test upon entering the event.

Active air filtration is getting looked into, if you have anything to add or want to help please reach out!

= Volunteering =

Food (vegan) is INCLUDED, but bringing your own food is also allowed and in fact encouraged.
==Snacks & Drinks==
At the event we'll be selling Mate (several flavours like Club Mate, Granat and Flora) and a multitude of soda's. Several snacks will also appear. All will be dealt with through self-service and paid through [[revbank]]. Please be helpful and restock the fridge if drinks run low. Tea and coffee will be available as well.

As always we hope to eat a lot of tosti's during the event. A tosti is a build-it-yourself toast sandwich with bread, (butter), cheese and (ham).

We'll buy some bread and some basic stuff to put on it for breakfast. Imagine cheap hostel food. If you want more/better, rise to the occasion and get enough for everyone. If you can bring eggs, maybe someone else will bring bacon ;)

We have regular bread and gluten-free bread. We ordered some basic stuff to put on there. Please check packaging for allergenes.

Creamy Vegan Broccoli Soup

Ingredients: olive oil, yellow onion, garlic, chili flakes, broccoli, cannelini beans, raw cashews, vegetable broth, salt, pepper.

Toppings (served separately): basil, soy sauce, dijon mustard, bread crumbs, chili flakes

Vegan Gambian Peanut Stew (Domoda)

Ingredients: Olive oil, yellow onion, garlic, ginger, jalapeno peppers, tomato paste, cumin, coriander, cinnamon, cloves, salt, pepper, vegetable broth, thyme, sweet potatoes, peanut butter (unsweetened), cannellini beans, crushed tomatoes, kale, lemon juice, cilantro.

Maybe rice as a base, but not sure yet.

== Sleeping ==
We are staying at De Vaarsche Hoef, one of the accommodations offered by De Hoof. It is a cozy converted thatched farmhouse with plenty of beds, a well-equipped kitchen and a proper bar. In addition we can use the sport hall for additional hacking space, activities, workshops, and talks. For outside activities or camping (see below) there is a big grass field outside the building that we can use.

The shared rooms are bunk bed style, with around 6 to 10 beds per room. Three small 4-bed rooms are available. We are trying to keep those available to those with special needs.

Eth0 is a high-tech geek conference. It aims toward sharing knowledge on technology/IT related fields including security, networks, programming, privacy, new (open) technologies, ethics and hacking. At daylight there are [[Eth0:2017_winter_talks|talks]] on these subjects, but when the sun goes down its definitely time to pick up the slack. There will be enough to do, as we have a bonfire, a fully equipped [[lounge]] (with bar) and an overload of hackerspace activity. Maybe someone brings along lasers and there is room to party. Enough reason to pick up the slack and go to eth0:2017 Winter?

This year, we're gathering at a new location, the Alibi Hostel in Leeuwarden (at the Blokhuispoort) There will be talks, workshops, '''awesome''' maker machines and the best of all we will meet all our friends and fellow hackers.

The event starts on Friday 6pm, and will be open until the Sunday around 6pm. There is be plenty of hacking and talking time. Obviously as we would love to get all your projects, we have plenty of space available for you to display your projects, on and off-stage.
