Eth0:2012 Summer is an outdoor high-tech geek conference planned for this summer. It aims toward sharing knowledge on tech/IT related fields including security, networks, programming, privacy, new (open) technologies, ethics and hacking. At daylight there are [[Eth0:2012_Summer_CFP|talks]] on these subjects, but when the sun goes down its definitely time to pick up the slack. There will be enough to do, as we have a bonfire, a fully equipped [[lounge]] (with bar) and an overload of hackerspace activity. Maybe someone brings along lasers and there is room to party. Enough reason to pick up the slack and go to Eth0?

The event starts at the 14th of august and will last for a full five days, one more than most of these camps. Its a Geek Certified Outdoor Camping Craze(tm): a.k.a. we're situated in a [[Eth0:2012_Summer_Terrain|heavily forested area]]. The camp-site provides everything you [[Eth0:2012_Summer_Practical_Information|might want]]. Such as showers, a conference hall, mosquitoes, a lounge, [[Eth0:2012_Summer_Villages|villages]] and enough grassy bits to set up your tent.

For those of you who unfortunately aren't able to come the whole week we created the possibility to buy day tickets. There is a 1-day ticket that costs 25 euro and doesn't include the possibility to sleep, and a 2-day and 3-day ticket including the 1 and 2 nights between the days that costs 60 euro and 90 euro respectively (65 and 95 euro after the 1st of August).

= The LackRack =
First occurrence on [[Eth0:2010_Winter|eth0:2010 Winterlan]], the LackRack is the ultimate, low-cost, high shinyness solution for your modular datacenter-in-the-living-room. Featuring the [http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/40104270 LACK] (side table) from Ikea, the LackRack is an easy-to-implement, exact-fit datacenter building block.
It's a little known fact that we have seen Google engineers tinker with Lack tables since way back in 2009.

= Summary =

It's very easy to assemble, and thanks to the design, they are stable enough to hold (for example) 19" switches and you can put your bottle of Club-Mate on top! However, in order to assemble the LackRack, there are a few prerequisites or tools that are needed:
* 1 (or more) LACK side table from Ikea
* Screwdriver (whether muscle-driven or motor-driven, with preference of the latter)
* Wood screws (they should fit in the rack mounts on your appliance, and not exceed 1" in length)
* Spare time

That's all! First, follow the assembly instructions in the Ikea manual in order to assemble the LACK.
After that, the installation of your 19" hardware can begin.

The LackRack is a stackable modular product. Additional elements can be stacked on top easily. Brackets to secure the top element to the bottom one are not included but available from your local non-computer hardware store.
* If you put several LackRacks side by side, the higher levels can be staggered to form a pyramid. This feature is not present in any other of the commercially available rack products.
