The easiest way to get to our event would be to punch in the coordinates (52.884644 NORTH, 5.07931 EAST) into your personal teleportation device and activate. More conventional means with turn-by-turn naviation would have you tell it that the location is "Noorderdijkweg 23, Wieringerwerf" (zipcode 1771 MJ, should you need it).

For those of you more adventurous, we will be meeting up in Amsterdam the day before the event to all bike up to Wieringerwerf as a group. We will probably set up two meeting locations, one for people local to Amsterdam inside the city and another one just north for those of you coming from parts further away. If you're coming from further away, the local nerds here can help you find a place to stay for a day or two and enjoy the city. Just ask [[User:loupgaroublond|loup]] for more details. Further details TBD.

Since Wageningen is apparently the origin of the word 'fiets' in Dutch, it's only fitting that Hackers on a Bike start there. It's about 85 km to Amsterdam, so we will probably go as a group. The plan is to leave a couple of days before the event, spend a rest day in Amsterdam and get everything together for the last leg of the trip.

By Bike

It's roughly 30km in all directions to the nearest train station, which, if you are athletic, is a nice bike ride. Don't forget to get a bike pass if you take the train. There are three possibilities:

From Amsterdam

For those of you more adventurous, we will be meeting up in Amsterdam the day before the event to all bike up to Wieringerwerf as a group. We will probably set up two meeting locations, one for people local to Amsterdam inside the city and another one just north for those of you coming from parts further away. If you're coming from further away, the local nerds here can help you find a place to stay for a day or two and enjoy the city. Just ask loup for more details. Further details TBD.

From Wageningen

Since Wageningen is apparently the origin of the word 'fiets' in Dutch, it's only fitting that Hackers on a Bike start there. It's about 85 km to Amsterdam, so we will probably go as a group. The plan is to leave a couple of days before the event, spend a rest day in Amsterdam and get everything together for the last leg of the trip.

Carpooling / hitching a ride

Please mention where you need to come from, and what you will bring. Or if you can take someone, let them know where you come from, and how much space you have.

  • need a pickup:
    • I will only be visiting the first day. It seems it's rather difficult to get back after 21:00. If anyone could drop me of at a trainstation (or Amsterdam) after "20:00 - 21:00 ACTA: Deliberate Confusion" that would be great! kvanrhee[at]gmail.com.
    • Would be very helpful if I could hitchhike, I live in Almere and I'll bring 2 bags with me (contact me at 10109@live-com)
    • If I can hitch a ride with anyone from Amsterdam that would be great. Will have 2 bags, about 30L & 70L. mail[at]sjef[dot]nu
  • can pickup:
    • I am travelling from Leipzig, Germany and will be able to give 2/3 (if you like it cozy ^^) additional people a ride. There's also enough room for copious amounts of luggage and a few servers/electron microscopes/USVs/oscilloscopes/industrial coffe makers. Just drop me a line per XMPP at mittagessen@l.unchti.me. I'll even make a detour for you.
    • I'm coming from Leeuwarden and have space for one more person and some luggage. (wiltschek@gmx.net)
