Sexually transmitted diseases are one of most distressed conditions all over the world. Different kinds of infections are prevalent worldwide, primarily because of indulging to unsafe contact with the affected person carrying the disease. Researchers keep on searching for the right treatment that can cure sexually transmitted disorders. However as of this time, some conditions can be prevented and cured but serious infections are still on the process of unfolding.

Sexually transmitted infection varies according to the cause and source. Gonorrhea is one common examples of STD which is caused by Neisseria gonorrhoeae. It can be acquired through mouth, penis, vagina and anus. See medisato nederlands for more references.N. gonorrhoeae usually harbor in warm and moist body parts including urethra. In women, this can be found in the uterus, cervix or fallopian tubes.

Risk Factors 1.Individuals with multiple sex partners 2.Person who had sex contact with an affected individual 3.Do not use protection during intercourse Clinical Manifestations

In men: 4.Dysuria or painful urination accompanied by burning sensation 5.Urinary frequency 6.Inflamed testicles 7.Swollen urethra 8.Pharyngitis or sore throat 9.Presence of whitish or yellowish discharge

In women: 10.Foul and smelly discharge 11.Dysuria or painful urination 12.Urinary frequency 13.Pharyngitis 14.Pain during sexual contact 15.High fever (usually occurs when infection reached the fallopian tubes) 16.Pain below the abdomen ( if the infection reached the area of stomach a well as the fallopian tubes)

In diagnosing this condition, discharge or a sample tissue is needed for examination. The procedure is known as gram stain which involves the use of a stain to the specimen. This will then be examined under the microscope. The most accurate method to diagnose N. gonorrhoeae is through cultures, allowing the growth of cells in the petri dish. The samples used are tissues from the throat, cervix, vagina and anus. The treatment for this condition has two objectives. First is to treat the infected person and the second is to trace and examine all other persons they had sexual contact.
